       <p>Sidney Baldwin (1885-1978) was born in Peoria, IL.  She began her career in 1898
writing for the <title render="italic">Peoria Star</title>, which was founded by her father, Eugene F. Baldwin.  Later, she became a drama critic and wrote the column "In My Opinion" for the Star. Baldwin also wrote for the <title render="italic">Ladies' Home Journal</title>, was a commentator on radio progams, and wrote several books (including two on Maine life) and articles. She served as vice president of the <title render="italic">Journal-Star</title> and was a  regular columnist for the <title render="italic">Maine Boothbay Register</title>.</p>

      <head>Scope and Contents of the Collection</head>
       <p>The Sidney Baldwin papers include correspondence and clippings from the Democratic
and Republican Conventions of 1952 and the Pan-American press tour of 1954, as well as a 1912 movie scenario.</p>
