It includes a diary and scrapbooks of articles and travels from her time with the <title render="italic">New York Journal American</title>, correspondence with Mina Kirstein Curtiss, research files for a <title render="italic">New York Times</title> sex discrimination case, books and book publicity materials, and files from her work at "Business World."

          <head>Biographical Note</head>
        <p>Journalist Marylin Bender (1924-) worked as a reporter for the <title render="italic">New York Journal American</title>, 1951-58, and was a reporter, editor, and freelancer at the <title render="italic">New York Times</title> from 1959-78 and 1985-92. From 1976-77, she was editor of the <title render="italic">NYT</title> Business and Finance section, and from 1985-91, she edited <title render="italic">Business World</title>. She wrote several books, including <title render="italic">The Beautiful People </title>(1967), <title render="italic">At the Top </title>(1975), <title render="italic">The Chosen Instrument </title>(with S. Altschul, 1982), <title render="italic">Nouveau is Better Than No Riche At All </title>(with Monsieur Mare, 1983). She married Selig Altschul in 1959 and had a son, James Sloan, in 1960.</p>
