         <head>Biographical Note</head>
         <p>Harriette A. Wells Royce was born on Novemeber 22, 1827. She lived in New Handford, New York, and attended Mount Holyoke Seminary from 1845-1846 (x1847). On October 25, 1848 she married Julius Royce. Harriette A. Wells Royce died in 1892 in New Jersey.</p>

         <p>The Harriet A. Wells Royce Journals describe her activities as a student at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary, 1845-1846, and her subsequent domestic work and social life after returning to the family farm in New Handford, New York. Includes references to her courtship and marriage (1848) to Julius Royce.</p>
